JERICHO WHARF NEWS ITEM
Oliver Holland of Cornerstone Land at the Planning Committee meeting
Posted - Oct 21, 2022
Cornerstone Land has now made a last-minute appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against the City Council’s refusal of planning permission for the Jericho Wharf development. This appeal will be decided by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State at an informal hearing at the Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford, on 17th January 2023 starting at 10:00 am.
In April this year, the Council’s Planning Committee unanimously rejected the Cornerstone scheme which excluded any social housing and also did not meet other planning policy requirements set out in the Council’s Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). Following the Planning Committee’s decision the Trust has been asking the Council to strengthen the SPD.
JWT Chair Phyllis Starkey says: “We are determined to ensure that Jericho Wharf fulfils its potential for the people of Jericho and of Oxford. We believe this can best be achieved by firmly defending the City Council’s decision, while also producing a Supplementary Planning Document that takes a more comprehensive view of what can and should be achieved on this historic and critical site”.
