The Trust is in discussion with developers and funders who are willing to bring forward a scheme that meets planning requirements. This would include a new community centre, boatyard, public square and provision for a new bridge. The current clearance of builders’ rubbish from the site indicates that action could be imminent.
Trust and its supporters secured the Council’s commitment to a Compulsory Purchase Order to force the landowner, Cheer Team, to agree a voluntary sale or face compulsory purchase by the Council. The Trust hopes that such a sale is now in sight.
